Hurricane Season: What You Really Need to Know

Hurricane season officially runs June 1 through November 30, but the real risk window is much narrower. In 18 years of planning weddings in Cabo, we have experienced only a handful of weather disruptions — and almost all fell in August and September.

The Eastern Pacific hurricane track typically sends storms away from Baja. When Cabo does get storms, there is usually 5–7 days of advance warning. If you are planning during shoulder season (May, June, October), the risk is minimal but we always recommend:

  • Travel insurance with weather coverage (always)
  • Choosing a venue with indoor backup options
  • Working with a local planner who can pivot quickly

Our Personal Recommendation

If budget is flexible: November and April are our two favorite months. The weather is flawless, the light for photography is golden, and the energy in Cabo is vibrant but not overwhelming.

If you are value-conscious: Late October and early June offer the best balance of beautiful weather and reduced pricing. We have produced some of our most stunning weddings in these months.

If you want exclusivity: January and February pair whale-watching season with cooler evenings (ideal for outdoor receptions) and a romantic atmosphere that is hard to match.

Is it safe to plan a Cabo wedding during hurricane season?
Hurricane season runs June 1 through November 30, but the real risk window is August–September. In 18 years of planning weddings in Cabo, we have experienced very few disruptions. May, June, and October are excellent shoulder months with minimal risk and lower pricing.
What is the cheapest month for a wedding in Cabo?
September offers the lowest venue and vendor rates, but carries the highest weather risk. For the best value with reliable weather, we recommend late October or early June — you can save 10–30% compared to peak season while still enjoying beautiful conditions.

For November through April weddings, we recommend booking your venue and planner 12–18 months in advance. December, January, and February dates at popular venues like Flora Farms and The Cape often book out more than a year ahead.
