First Things First: Why Cabo?

Los Cabos sits at the southern tip of Baja California Sur, where the Pacific Ocean meets the Sea of Cortez. It offers 350+ days of sunshine, world-class resorts, and a culinary scene that rivals any destination in the Americas. For couples from the United States and Canada, it is the most accessible luxury wedding destination in Latin America — direct flights from most major US and Canadian cities, no passport visa required, and a familiar service culture that blends Mexican warmth with international standards.

The region includes two distinct towns: Cabo San Lucas (vibrant, oceanfront, resort-heavy) and San José del Cabo (artsy, organic, boutique). Between them lies the Tourist Corridor, home to some of the most exclusive wedding venues in Mexico. An hour north, Todos Santos offers bohemian charm and the Pacific surf. Each area has a unique personality — and our team knows every one of them intimately.

Legal Requirements: Getting Married in Mexico

US and Canadian citizens can legally marry in Mexico. Here is what you need to know:

For a Legal Civil Ceremony

  • Valid passports for both partners
  • Original birth certificates (apostilled and translated into Spanish by a certified translator)
  • Blood test results from a Mexican lab (done in Cabo, typically 1–2 days before the ceremony)
  • Four witnesses (two per partner) with valid IDs
  • If previously married: divorce decree or death certificate (apostilled and translated)
  • A Mexican judge officiates the ceremony — we coordinate this entirely on your behalf

The Easier Alternative: Symbolic + Legal at Home

Most of our couples (approximately 70%) choose a symbolic ceremony in Cabo and handle the legal paperwork at their local courthouse before or after the trip. This eliminates the blood test, translation requirements, and judge fees — and gives you full flexibility with your ceremony format, officiant, and vows.

Guest Logistics: Making Travel Easy

Flights: Los Cabos International Airport (SJD) has direct flights from Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Diego, Dallas, Houston, Denver, Phoenix, New York (JFK), Chicago, Seattle, Toronto, Vancouver, and Calgary. Flight time from most US cities is 2–4 hours.

Accommodations: We recommend securing hotel room blocks 9–12 months in advance. Most resorts offer group rates for 10+ rooms. We negotiate these on your behalf and can set up a personalized booking link for your guests.

Transportation: Airport-to-hotel transfers typically run $25–$40 per person one-way via shared shuttle, or $80–$120 for a private SUV. We coordinate group transfers to keep your guests together and on schedule.

Activities: Snorkeling at Chileno Bay, sunset sailing to the Arch, spa days, golf at Cabo del Sol, ATV tours, tequila tastings, and downtown art walks in San José del Cabo are all popular guest activities we help arrange.
